This Shweshwe bag is 23cm / 20cm. It brings together recycled and recovered material with traditional handprinted South African Shweshwe.
Manufatured in South Africa by the Gauteng-based community project, Eco Smart. They currently have workshops in Diepsloot, Bertrams and Katlehong.
Eco Smart was founded in 2011. The project focuses on upskilling disadvantaged women, providing mentorship and entrepreneurial support for those who do not have access to market opportunities. Based on a circular economy, the project aims to create longterm solutions to the unemployment crisis.
This wonderful project believes that waste is overlooked as a valuable resource, and with a little South African flair, anything can be made useful and pretty!
